i'm part of the beautiful & neat selected photo book if you leave 2011, created & curated by laurence tarquin von thomas and published by arthur frank. if you leave is a collection of contemporary photography and includes work from 85 young photographers from all around the world. it's more concered with the impact of the single image, rather than a body of work by an individual photographer. works shown on the photos are by amber marie chavez, ana kras, jan durina, jelena markota, me & mary robinson. you can grab a copy here.

girlgang zine & giveaway

this is the amazing girlgang zine #2, made by maren karlson & kristina hens from berlin. it comes with hand screenprints on 3 different kinds of paper, a poster & a lovely illustrated and typewriter written inside. the “role model issue” contains many interesting interviews with maren & kristinas favorite female role models: artists & bands like grass widow, cassie ramone from vivian girls, marnie stern, tavie gevinson from thestylerookie.com, karin dreijer from the knife, kate nash… — i not only (re)discovered a lot of great music, the interviews are also all very inspiring & empowering to also do such important & great things like this. you should definitely pick it up! they also printed a lovely tote bag to “support your local girlgang”, that i like to share with you. tell me your favorite female role models & super powers into the comments of this post until tuesday, january 24th & the randomizer will pick a lucky one who gets a neat tote bag. and the winner is miglè! “we want to share the awesomeness of girls who not only demand a piece of cake but take the whole bakery instead.” in this way, support your local girlgang! ♀⬈

ghost

monday will be kiosk-monday from now on. let's start with rebecca cairns self-published photography book “ghost”. it has 40 pages & contains a selection of 27 photographs. her noir and mostly double exposured self-portraits are not only very intimate & well composed, they also express a transparency that makes you feel feer & a comfortable nearness at the same time. you can read a review from eric miller here. though it's printed on demand via blurb, it's quite expensive, but still very worth having in the shelf to take a closer look on her amazing work printed on paper. for recent updates you can take a look at her blog “portrait d'une femme”.

leuchtturm

…to get myself a leuchtturm 1917 notebook. it comes with a dotted grid, pagination, table of content, 8 perforated sheets to share a note with friends & a pocket of course, to store all the small things that come by from time to time. when it's full, you can put provided stickers on the outside to label it. a perfect notebook. thanks to michelle for sharing.
